[Bond has been laying low, for the most part: investigating quietly, observing, looking for the Admiral and the Bridge and all the other things people initially told him he'd never see or find.

It galls him that they were right.

He's also spent his time half convinced that this is all a drug induced dream meant to obtain information from him. He still isn't sure either way, honestly, so when the video clicks on, Bond's face is inscrutable, because you're getting nothing from him, Quantum. When he talks, it's easy, smooth, because he is a very good bluffer.]

Suppose this is real. Suppose we are actually on a ship meant to cure us of our villainous ways. Tell me how it works. Tell me how often it works. And what do the wardens get out of it?

[He smiles, and it's easy but doesn't reach his eyes.]

While we're here, I've learned from my mistakes, 'Admiral.' [The inflection is small, but present: he really means Quantum.] Kindly send me back to live the quiet retired life, if you please. [There are much more important things than his immortal soul, or whatever the fuck this is supposed to be about, at stake after all.]

[Private to Ivy]

It strikes me that I may or may not owe you an apology.

[Private to Lark]

Heard anything?

[This is why she doesn't always like talking to newbies.]

Don't say we didn't warn you.

One of the wardens who's been here for a while recently did the numbers. Between random disappearances and all, the actual success statistics are really low.

But the ones it works for, well. It really works. You can always talk to one of the wardens here who used to be an inmate, there are several. They have an interesting perspective on the process.

All of them? No. You could talk to Jesse Pinkman, or Mozenrath. I think Narvin used to be as well. Hm. I know there are others, but it's hard to remember them all.

Yeah. Sometimes people just... disappear with no warning. Wardens, inmates, no one is completely safe from it.

Not really, no. Presumably, they go back to... whatever it was they came from. But the Admiral isn't really talking about it and he's the only one who would know.

There's not really anything else we can do. He's the keeper of the deals. If he decides to kick someone off the Barge for whatever reason, I guess that's just what happens.

I'm not sure I'd call anyone here 'complacent'. Too much weird stuff happens all the time for anyone to get complacent about it.

The Barge is definitely unique. And disconcerting, for people not used to weird stuff. [For people used to following the laws of physics, maybe.]

Some, I guess. Not personality changes, though. Those are the worst I think. I mean, getting turned into a sugar glider was weird, but actually kinda fun. Getting turned into a bad person, someone who wants to hurt other people? Not so much.

I'd say that's a relative term, but I try. Usually.

That's true enough. Did you define yourself as a good guy, then?
buildindreemz: (did you really just say that?)

That's a little egotistical, don't you think?
